Improvements to FIRST Blogs backend

Well, I’m proud to report that there’s been some significant improvements to the backend of FIRST Blogs (most of you probably won’t notice any changes, though). The code has been error-trapped a lot more and the address of RSS feeds for the MySpace folks has been changed (since MySpace now provides its own RSS feeds there’s no longer the need to use an external service). Also, Elgin’s blog is now listed :-)

Well, it looks like we’ve got some regulars…

So, I was looking at the statistics today for people accessing the site and it looks like we’ve consistently got about 30 daily visitors (which is pretty cool). The reason this number doesn’t match up with the FIRST Top Site number is that a significant number of our readers are subscribed to the RSS feed which doesn’t enter into their statistics. What I’m wondering is why those of you folks who read but don’t have a blog already listed haven’t decided to be listed. Is it because you think your views are marginalised? Are you being overwhelmed with information overload? Do you feel that you’d have to censor yourself? (which, by the way, I don’t want to be the case). Let me know (comment to this post and/or via e-mail at tim@openfirst.org).

Thanks folks, your answers will help make FIRST Blogs better.
